ABAT & IBT Combined Coursework

The ABAT and IBT combined 40 hours program is designed to provide individuals with the needed education and training to become certified as an Applied Behavior Analysis Technician (ABAT) and International Behavior Therapist (IBT) through the Qualified Applied Behavior Analysis Credentialing Board (QABA) and the International Behavior Analysis Organization Credentialing Board (IBAO)

A Behavior Therapist (ABAT or IBT) is responsible for providing support to individuals  following Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles focusing on managing challenging behavior, improving language development, social skills, independent and daily living skills, learning skills and more. Support is provided in different settings and environment, such as schools, nurseries, home and more.

Our ABAT and IBT coursework is offered in English, online via live Zoom sessions, accommodating everyone’s schedules and needs. It is perfect for individuals who want to develop their understanding of behavior analysis and its applications and who are looking to add Applied Behavior Analysis techniques to their skill set when working with individuals, under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. This includes educators, teachers, paraprofessionals, healthcare professionals, social workers, university students in the field of psychology and education, as well as parents and caregivers. The course covers topics related to Applied Behavior Analysis including core principles of ABA, implementation of behavior reduction interventions, skills acquisitions programming, data collections, behavior assessments, ethical and professional considerations, Autism Core Knowledge and disabilities.

WHAT ARE YOUR REQUIREMENTS?

Eligibility to apply for the ABAT Exam with QABA, requirements are:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Hold a minimum of a high school diploma
  • Must have completed 40 hours of ABAT approved coursework
  • Chose a supervisor and sign a supervisor agreement
  • Complete 15 hours of supervised fieldwork including 1.5 hours of direct supervision with your supervisor
  • Complete successfully a competency Standards conducted by your supervisor
  • Recommendation form completed by your supervisor
  • Pass a criminal background check with QABA or provide a letter from your employer

Eligibility to apply for the IBT Exam with IBAO, requirements are:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Hold a minimum of a high school diploma
  • Must have completed 40 hours of IBT approved coursework
  • Chose a supervisor and sign a supervisor agreement
  • Complete 4 hours of continuing education related to ABA
  • Complete 300 hours of supervised practice including 10 hours of direct supervision with your supervisor
  • Complete successfully a candidate skills testing conducted by your supervisor

Upon Completion Of The Coursework

Participants will receive:

  •  Certificate of completion
  • KHDA Certificate
  • Competency Standards assessment
  • Supervised fieldwork hours with attestation

Behavior Core is an approved ABAT and IBT content provider with QABA and IBAO, as well as an approved training facility with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai. At the end of the coursework and upon passing the certification exam with the chosen board, participants will receive the internationally recognized credential of ABAT and IBT, along with their KHDA certificate, opening doors to support individuals in different settings including nurseries, schools, centers, clinics and more.
